How Square’s own booking embed works
Every Square plan, including Free, comes with a booking site and a few ways to point people at it. In the Square Dashboard go to Appointments > Online Booking > Channels, then Get Started under “Add your booking flow to an existing site.” You get four options:
- Create button: a Book Appointment button. You can change its color, text, shape and font, then paste the HTML into your site or email signature.
- Get embed code: the booking flow for one location. Square’s help center says: “Your clients will be taken to a flow in another tab or window.”
- Get URL: a plain link to your booking site.
- Advanced widget: under Online Booking, a widget limited to chosen services or staff.
On the booking site itself you can set a logo and one brand color, staff photos and bios, service and category images, and the order of categories and services (under Edit service display, not in Items). A service can only sit in one category, and sub-categories don’t show.

Where Square’s embed falls short
Square’s tools are fine for getting a link online. They start to cost you bookings when your website is where clients decide.
- It leaves your site. The booking happens in another tab, on Square’s design, so the page you paid to build stops at the Book button.
- Little design control. A Square moderator wrote in December 2025 that the Appointments booking site “doesn’t allow for much customisation beyond editing service display.”
- No analytics on the booking flow. Square staff have said tracking for Square booking “is only available with Square Online,” and the booking flow opens in another tab, so the Google Analytics or Meta Pixel on your own site never sees a booking.
- No promo codes and no member prices at online booking. See promo codes and memberships.
“My website looks good and my appointments page just looks low quality compared to the rest of it.”
“I can embed it using iFrame but the experience/UI for customer is not the best. And still not able to track conversion for Google Ads.”
The original Square thread on embedding the booking widget has 280,188 views. It is the most-read Appointments thread on the Square Seller Community.
How the Foyer booking widget works
Foyer connects to your Square account with Square’s own sign-in, reads your services, staff, hours and prices, and books straight into Square Appointments. The widget runs on your page, isolated from your site’s styles so nothing breaks.
- Popup or inline. A floating Book button on every page, or the full booking flow inside a page. Any link to
#bookopens it, and#book:serviceopens one service directly. - Your look. Six designs or your own colors and fonts, and every word clients see is editable.
- Booking that sells. Menu by category or list with search, featured services, up to six services in one visit, add-on suggestions, provider choice with “Anyone available,” and a waitlist when nothing fits.
- Payments. Full payment, a flat or percent deposit, or pay at the visit, set per service. See deposits.
- Perks. Member prices and credits, package sessions and promo codes apply at checkout.
- After booking. Calendar links, a reschedule and cancel link, and a confirmation email to the client and an alert to you.
- Analytics. If your site already runs Google Analytics 4 or the Meta Pixel, the widget sends events at each step, such as
booking_open,booking_timeandpurchase(Meta: ViewContent, Schedule, Lead, Purchase).
Square’s embed vs the Foyer widget
| Square embed | Foyer widget | |
|---|---|---|
| Where clients book | Another tab or window | Popup or inline on your page |
| Design | Logo and one brand color | Six designs, any colors and fonts |
| Wording | Square’s text | Every word editable |
| GA4 and Meta Pixel events | Not on the booking flow | Every step |
| Promo codes at booking | Not available | Included |
| Member prices and credits | Not documented | Included |
| Deposits | Yes, all plans | Yes, per service or group |
| Payment methods | Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, gift cards, Afterpay | Cards |
| Price | Included with Square | From $79 a month |
Two honest trade-offs: Square’s own flow takes more payment methods, and it is free. Foyer is for businesses whose website does real selling and who want the booking to match it.
Add it to your site in three steps
- Sign in with Square. Foyer reads your menu, staff and hours. Nothing to type twice.
- Pick a look and your payment rules. Choose a design, set deposits, and preview the widget live.
- Paste one line into your site. Foyer gives you the code with your ID filled in.
