How to create a package in Square
- Open Packages. Square Dashboard > Items & services > Items > Packages > Create package.
- Add what’s included. Under What’s included, add services or classes and the quantity, then set the price.
- Choose where it sells. Pick sales channels, and optionally create a payment link or buy button.
- Sell it. From a customer’s profile (Sell package), the Square app (Checkout > Library > Packages), your Square Online site, or a payment link.
When a client books an included service, Square applies the package at checkout, in the Dashboard, the app, and on the online booking page.

Square package limits to know
- Plus or Premium only. “Class booking and packages” is not on Square Free.
- Online use needs a prior online booking. Square: “Your customer must have completed at least one online booking using the same phone number for packages to show as available.”
- Expiry of one year at most from purchase.
- Contents are locked. After creating a package you can’t change the services, quantity or expiry; you make a new package.
- No packages on deposit services. From Square’s deposits article.
- Front-desk sales need a phone and email on the customer.
“If someone has pre-purchased a package of 10 sessions, how would I allow them to book without charging them?”
Package requests have a long history on the Square Seller Community. The original feature request for packages through Square Appointments has 74,085 views.
How packages work in Foyer
- They live on the service. Foyer adds “Package of 3” and “Package of 6” as options on the service in your Square catalog, so the front desk sees and sells them like anything else.
- One pricing rule. By default 3 sessions at 10% off and 6 at 20% off, priced from the single visit and rounded to $5. Change the rule for a group, or lock one service’s price.
- Buy and book at once. Buying a package books the first session and charges the package in one Square sale.
- Later sessions book at $0 online, once the client confirms their email.
- The front desk stays in sync. A desk booking uses a session, a desk cancel gives it back, and a package sold at the counter shows up in Foyer. The client’s Square profile shows sessions left.
- Optional expiry from 1 to 36 months (12 by default).
Square packages vs Foyer packages
| Square packages | Foyer packages | |
|---|---|---|
| Square plan needed | Plus or Premium | Any plan |
| Book online with a package | After one earlier online booking | From the first session |
| Buy online from your website | Square Online or a payment link | In the booking widget |
| Edit after creating | Make a new package | Change the price rule any time |
| Expiry | Up to 1 year | 1 to 36 months, or none |
| Multi-service packages | Yes | One service per package |
If you are already on Square Plus and sell mixed-service packages at the counter, Square’s packages may be enough. Foyer fits when clients buy and book series online.
