What changed in 2025 and 2026
On October 6, 2025 Square replaced 18 separate subscriptions, including Appointments Plus and Premium and Square Online Plus and Premium, with three plans: Square Free, Plus and Premium. On the new plans, booking features appear after you turn on Bookings under Add more in the Dashboard.
- Existing sellers can switch under Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing & subscriptions. Once you switch, you can’t return to a legacy plan.
- Sellers on the old Appointments Plus report it cost $29 a month per location; Square Plus is $49. Some sellers on the Square Seller Community report emails moving them to Square Plus. Square hasn’t posted a date publicly, so check your own Dashboard.
- Deposits came to every plan in 2026, with a separate amount per service from May 2026.

Which plan does an appointment business need?
- Stay on Free if you take deposits to cut no-shows, send reminders, and don’t need packages, a waitlist or no-show fees.
- Choose Plus if you charge no-show fees on held cards, sell Square packages, want the waitlist or confirmation requests, or book several staff at once.
- Choose Premium if rooms or machines limit your schedule, such as one laser for three providers.
Do the card-fee math too. Online bookings cost 3.3% + 30¢ on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus. At $12,000 a month of online payments, that 0.4% difference is $48, about the price of Plus.
Where Foyer fits
Foyer isn’t a cheaper Square Plus. It adds what no Square plan does today, on top of whichever plan you choose:
| Square Free | Square Plus | Any plan + Foyer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking that stays on your website | New tab | New tab | Popup or inline |
| Promo codes at online booking | No | No | Yes |
| Member prices and monthly credits | No | No | Yes |
| Packages booked online from the first session | No | After one online booking | Yes |
| Rebooking reminders | No | No | Yes |
| Google review requests | No | Automated campaigns | After every visit |
Foyer is $79 a month. If you are on Square Free and only want packages or the waitlist, Square Plus is the cheaper answer. If you want booking on your own site with memberships and codes, that is what Foyer is for.
