Short answer

Square Online is free on Square Free, with the website builder, SEO tools, your booking page and a square.site address. Your own domain, embed code sections, custom fonts and paid themes need Square Plus at $49 a month per location. Tracking codes like Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel work on every plan.

  • Online card rate: 3.3% + 30¢ on Free, 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus
  • Your own domain needs Plus
  • Legacy Square Online plans still exist for older accounts

Using your own domain

Every Square Online site gets a free address ending in square.site. To use your own, like yourspa.com, you need Square Plus or Premium: Channels > Square Online > Website > Domains > Connect domain. Buy one through Square or connect one you own; DNS takes 24 to 48 hours and SSL is included.

Already on a legacy plan?

Older accounts can still be on Square Online Plus or Premium. Switching to the new plans cancels the old hosting plan with a refund for unused days; custom domains and Google Workspace keep billing separately.

Is the free plan enough for an appointment business?

It can be, if the site is a menu and a Book button. The trade-offs show up in three places:

  • The address. A square.site address is harder to remember and reads less like an established business.
  • The look. In our October 2026 review of 196 Square Online med spa sites, 78% looked like a stock Square template.
  • Speed. The median Square Online page in that review took 6.7 seconds to load.

If the site is mostly services and booking, Foyer Page gives you a one-page site on your own domain, with branded booking, for $79 a month. If you sell products online, Square Plus with Square Online is the better fit.

Questions Square sellers ask

Is Square Online free?

Yes. Square Online is included in Square Free with the website builder, SEO tools, a booking page and a square.site address. You pay card processing on online orders and bookings.

How much does a Square website cost with my own domain?

Your own domain needs Square Plus at $49 a month per location, plus the cost of the domain if you buy it through Square.

Can I add Google Analytics to a free Square Online site?

Yes. Square’s tracking code settings, including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, are available on every plan under Settings > Tracking Tools.

Can I embed code on a free Square Online site?

Not with embed code sections, which need Square Plus or Premium. Header and footer tracking code is available on every plan.

Are the old Square Online Plus plans still available?

Not for new US sellers. Existing sellers on legacy Square Online plans can keep them or switch to the new Square plans in their Dashboard.
